As requested by Gene Herman, photos of the DKW-Vemag Belcar and DKW-Vemag Vemaguet!
For those wondering, the Belcar was a Brazilian, four-door sedan version of the DKW 3=6 sold here in the United States. The Vemaguet was its three-door station wagon version. More or less made to the same specs as the US DKW, the Belcar had the same four on the tree/three-cylinder two-stroke engine arrangement. It was actually a very popular, very common car in Brazil during the late 1950s through the mid 1960s.

Here's a DKW-Vemag Belcar more or less as it was best remembered. Note the bumpers, which I believe came in 1964 and are of Brazilian design.

Note the lack of steel ridges on the trunk lid, too. Also, that's a Brazilian-spec Volkswagen Kombi 1200 in the background.

Here's the facelifted version of the Belcar, which debuted in 1966. It only lasted into 1968 and was never as popular as the original version of the car.

Finally, here's a 1962 advertisement for the station wagon version, the DKW-Vemag Vemaguet. You may be wondering what's up with the bumpers. Well, the Belcar also had bumpers like this from 1959-early 1964 to meet Brazilian safety standards. The law was changed in 1964 and these type of bumpers were no longer required. You'll see similar bumpers on the Beetle, VW Kombi, VW Karmann Ghia, and several other small Brazilian cars that had their origins in Germany at that time. Enjoy!
My dad had the station wagon version 60 DKW and that's
What I took my driver's license test in. The trooper could hardly believe that it had a 4 speed column shift as he watched me go through the gears. On the ignition it said "Halt...Fahrt" instead of Off..start. Really, it caused a lot of jokes in the family.

Thanx, J-W. I was familiar with the German Deeks of course, but these are new to me.
