COFFEE IS GOOD FOR MAKING MEMORIES...

It was an early start this morning with my princess.  Grocery shopping on the agenda and more importantly our favorite breakfast of Cinnamon French Toast before shopping.  Oh so good, but never as good as the time spent together.  Done eating, I decide to get a cup of coffee to go.  "Can I get it with cream?". I say, to which the server says, "the cream is at the end of the counter. help yourself".

I get my cup with cover on it and move to the end of the counter to get that cream added to it.  Holy hot coffee Batman, the lid must be glued to the cup!  Finally after some serious contorting with my hands I win the wrestling match and get the cover off.  Now to pour the cream, should be easy I thought.  Well think again Georgie, because figuring out how to get the twist top on the cream to work, certainly proved I wasn't smarter than a 5th grader.  But hey, I can do this, I said.  On the sidelines Lorraine is watching this seemingly endless effort to just get a cup of coffee, wondering if she should do the shopping alone.  But alas, I got the cream poured and placed the cover back on my coffee.

Shopping cart in front of us, we begin our journey down an isle to see how much we can get in it.  And hey, also time to take a first sip of this coffee that took me 10 minutes to get.  Gulp!  OUCH!  Damn, how could I forget that it might be hot.  Letting my tongue recover from the sting and burn, I smartly decide I'll just carry the cup for a bit and let it cool.  Down another isle or two and I'm ready to attempt that second sip.

OMG!  The cover comes off!  Coffee is decorating my shirt, spilling on the floor...and it's still hot!  My shirt looking like I'm 2 years old again and unable to drink without mommy helping me, it was now obvious to everyone that would see me, that the front of my shirt looks and smells like coffee.  Surely this has turned in to "hot" morning.

Lorraine grabs a bag of sugar and a bag of flower, and put them in the cart.  Then she tells me to get some Pepsi, to which I follow directions like trained retriever.  Holding my coffee cup in my right hand, I grab the Pepsi eight-pack with my left, swing it off the shelf and in to the cart.  Oops!  Don't turn your right hand with that now un-covered coffee George...too late!  I spill coffee all over the bags of sugar and flower, and of course more on the store floor.

I knew there was a reason we took extra napkins from breakfast and stuck them in our pockets.  Attempting to wipe off the stuff in the cart and looking at the floor, she says, "you need someone following you with a mop'.  We both laughed as it was now evident that we've left a trail of where we've been through out our walk down the isles of the store.  Lorraine looks and calmly says, "Could you go walk down another isle, you're dangerous to be around".

Finally getting to the register the rest of the coffee went in to the trash.  We paid for our filled cart, then we're on our way to the car.  With the exception of the bottled water, yup the heavy 24 pack, falling out of the cart, we got the car loaded and headed home.

Breakfast together, some laughs and another memory for minds photo album.  Note to self, "Dear Diary, remind me to not get coffee before shopping, or if I do, remind me to wear the same shirt, 'cause I want people to recognize me.

Thank you Lord for this day!

Lorraine and I always find a way make each moment we are together, a moment we want to remember.  I'm not me if I'm not with her.  I thank her every day for letting me share life with her all these last 48+ years together.  I've been blessed beyond what I deserve.

Better shopping next time !!!

Sometimes, we all have those days.

Like the time I parked to close to the scalloped top driveway pavers. I got out of my truck, tripped on those rounded top pavers and went face first into the palm tree 1ft away from me.

Not a pretty site with all the blood dripping down on to my shirt.

Thank-you GOD for vitamin E oil.

OUCH!  Thankfully you weren't hurt.  My day, though it was "one of those days" was one of frustration that turned in to fun and laughter.  It was just a comedy of errors.

Too funny George!  Might I suggest the next time you want to take your coffee to go, put it in a tippy cup.

A 'sippy' cup might be preferable too.  Laughing Out Loud

Based on the happenings with the coffee yesterday, I think I was a little "tippy".
