SUNDAY MORNING COMING DOWN

The words above are from the classic Johnny Cash recording that reflects his thoughts of a Sunday after Saturday evening picking songs, and starting a new day with memories.

Today is October 1st.  A new month.  More importantly, a Sunday and a new day!  As I fumbled through my closet to find my clothes for the day, and getting my coffee brewing, the aroma as it usually does, plummets my thoughts to not only the new day, but also another chance to get it right.  How many times do we as humans say, "If only I had one more chance".

Fact is, every morning we get that opportunity.  Our past is behind us, it's in cement and shouldn't be dug up.  Each new day is another chance for a another beginning.

I opened the patio door, it was unexpectedly warm for an October 1st morning.  The sun not yet up, but in all its wonderment beginning its arrival for the day.  The pond is calm, I mean really calm.  I hear the geese honking, as they do each morning and the sounds the ducks make, is equivalent to the sound of laughter.  All of these refreshing morning antics cleanses my thoughts, with the immediate satisfaction that, it's a new month, a new day, and a new beginning.

My coffee done, my toast is spread with its usual peanut butter.  I sip the coffee slowly as I enjoy the sounds of nature coming through the patio door.  My morning thoughts and prayers thanking God for what I have and hoping that I will give more than I take during the rest of the day.

As the clock ticks through my breakfast, I'm now prepared to grab this "one more chance".  Where are my keys?  I'm off to church with thoughts that "Sunday Morning" is indeed "Coming Down", and I'm going to embrace it.

Sounds wonderful George. Everything is as it should be except that peanut butter, something that I have never adapted to.

@david-green, we developed a taste for it when we spent a summer in France.

LOL, inspirational thoughts to start my day, and it's peanut butter that is what is taken from it.  Shocked

New day, yesterday's pains are still there as well as a new one or the new pain of the day. I retired 22 years ago and for the last 20 years life has been PAIN. PAIN RESTRICTS YOUR EVERY MOVEMENT and takes away your ability to do almost everything.  Not to mention most of your friends have passed.  My deceased ex-wife favorite saying was "life sucks and then you die" which I never believed in especially when she was healthy living a good middle income life; the older I get the more I believe she may have been right, at least for the past 20 years.  BUT, I still smile and laugh, though I look forward to bed, not waking up, way too stiff and sore in the morning, bed is releaf.

No life is perfect.  My life sure hasn't always been perfect and I have some daily pain too.  Yes it restricts you, but when you let it restrict and rob your mind of a positive outlook, the pain is even worse.  I sincerely feel sad for the body pain you feel and I will add you to my morning prayer list.  This said, I also sincerely believe that if one gets up every morning and immediately tells themselves that "life sucks", then that will be true.  And please know that in no way am I trying to be disrespectful to what you deal with.
