Excellent post, Bruce! I don't know how they survive, but it must be due to subscriber loyalty. I'm grateful that they are still publishing.
Sorry that you had issues with your subscriber agent, as the magazine only gets better and better, and it fills a spot no other magazine does. I particularly appreciate the depth of their authors' research, and so long as they publish the magazine, they've got me as a subscriber.
Thank you, Rick. I'm unsure about now, but CA depended on two main sourses of income.
Book sales, but more importantly, reader subscriptions.
an excellent business model, if a company can sustain itself from that. This was, maybe still is a dependence of paid advertising. This then makes CA much less vulnerable to the caprisious requirements of corporations and the influence these entities have on publication integrity.
Full Mark's for CA and with hope that they never feel tempted, or need, to supp from the Devils chalice.
That's cool !
Yes, I also cancelled my subscription when she left the building.
It's a great mag Rick...for anyone into Veteran and Vintage..
and also some 50s and 60s stuff. Recent articles have included Corvair, Amilcar, Vauxhall 30/98. It's well written and has guest contributors who are well-known in motoring journalism. I learn something new every month and Davina likes the mag too...not that she reads it but she knows I'll be out of her way until I have!
