I enjoy these pics too.  The far right Chevrolet on the top of the transport is a very interesting car.

1967ChevyTransport (2)

First off, all full size Chevrolets came standard with 14" wheels.  1967 was the first year of the famous Chevrolet Rally Wheels, and they only came in 15" diameter that year.

This car is a 4-door Biscayne, the bottom of the full size line, but it has 15" rally wheels. Rally wheels were required with the Disc brakes option, and disc brakes were only available with the power unit.  By the shape of the front fender emblem, it's  equipped with a small block V-8 engine, either a 283 or 327 cubic inch.

So, what we have here is a cheapo 4-door Biscayne, V-8, with power disc brakes, a very odd combination.  Looks like a special order car to me.  I wonder what else it has?!

Here's what the 1967 rally wheel cap looks like:

Good eye!  Must be a special order or perhaps has the police package.

Back in the day as I remember [?] the term "special order" referred to an order that had options not normally offered to the public [color etc.]. Most orders were just considered "customer orders" [the way I used to buy my new cars] with mixed options which back then could be mixed up in any combo wanted. Today you either buy off the lot and/or buy packages that contain many things you don't want [to pay for] and are stuck with just for one item you want.  I don't know what era it changed but the past 30 years I have not able to order a stripped down model with a large engine, you have to buy the best [much more expensive sporty] model.  Which in my opinion sucks, but I do understand the economics and production problems involved in doing the order anything in the book and maybe leaving off safety extras etc..  A base 2020 Ford Explorer $33,000[+cost of the more power full engine/trans] with the "ST" engine. The "ST" starting at $56,000 with all kinds of luxury items and safety things I just don't want/need much less pay for.
