Among the great cars given us by the Ford Motor Company over the decades, one that remains not only a cult automobile, but also just a favorite for its styling.  That car is the 1949 MERCURY.  It was a totally new styling and design and forever seems to be a favorite to this very day.  But what about Mercury's "older brother", the 1949 LINCOLN?

Certainly the family resemblance was there.  It had the body shape and styling of the Mercury, but it certainly had its own look and identity like most siblings do.  As this great article by noted writer and historian Arch Brown shares, the 1949 LINCOLN CLUB COUPE that is often overlooked, and that's not fair.  I've always felt that this LINCOLN carried sort of a "customized" look to it, and yet it wasn't.  This is a beautiful car that I certainly would allow in my garage anytime and I'd love to have had a 1:24 scale replica of it.  What do you think?

The '49 Lincoln is a style I have always appreciated, as well as the 50 & 51. They are not often seen these days, at least I don't see them often. As far as 1:24 scale version, probably not likely these days, but I do have a few in 1:43 scale.

Here's a couple 1:1s

1949

1949 Lincoln Convertible 1

 1950

1950 Lincoln Sport Sedan 1

1951

1951 Lincoln Cosmopolitan 2
1951 Lincoln Lido Coupe 07

I know you don't collect 1:43 scale, but there are a few available in this scale.

Great photos John!  I've seen a couple '49 and '50 Lincoln's over the years at old car shows and have always found them interesting.  For me, seeing different and the not so common cars at those shows is more fun than seeing the usual '57 Chevy's etc.  I find myself usually just giving them a passing glance and then moving on to the rarer and more uncommon cars.
