In 1959 I was 8 years old.  I thought the General Motors exciting totally new styling for their line-up of cars were the most unique and different from any car I'd seen in my young life to that point.  With exception of Cadillac, I liked the Chevrolet, Pontiac, OLDSMOBILE, and Buick a lot!  Each was different in front and different in back.  They shared the same roof-lines but beyond that (again to my young eyes) they were all sharing their own identity with us.  This article in CARS & PARTS magazine by BOB STEVENS delivers the goods about this one.

I agree with everything George just said; except I was 7.  😊   My buddy's Dad bought this exact same black Oldsmobile; it was a beauty.

@jack-dodds, and the red interior really pops too!  What I loved about these pan-a-ramic beauties is that there were NO BLIND SPOTS while driving.  Unlike todays cars that are nothing but blind spots.  You can miss a semi-truck with many wide posts.
