on my way to turning it into a 'Hot Rod Lincoln'. Seriously, as is my usual method, I've taken things off, have simplified it in many areas then finished with some significant changes, which I will christen an elegant Hot Rod Lincoln. In my defense, with the purists on this forum, I would not do this to an actual Lincoln Continental automobile.
As found:
Lowered, partially dechromed, repositioned the door button, removed the continental kit and added dual exhausts. The pipe addition would indicate additional horsepower, making this the first step on it's way to becoming a........Hot Rod Lincoln.
Slimmed and tucked both bumpers, shaved the rear bumper, smoothed the body and minimized the trim:
Made it into a hardtop with a mild (3") top chop, removed the bumpers and frenched the tail lights:
Further top chop, sectioned, lowered additionally thus making this a Hot Rod Lincoln:
The changes, in total, make this nearly a different type of car. Though this is not a model I would normally edit given its design elegance, this more spartan example presented a canvas I couldn't ignore.
Comments are welcome.
Enjoy!
I'm with you 100%, on your caveat to not wish to change a 1:1. I also would agree with Bob Jackman that most classic cars look better stock, as does this particular vehicle. In fact I'd go so far as to say that it would look better, in my estimation, with the skirts! I have also said that it is one I like WITH the continental kit in place.
That said, in making it the Hot Rod Lincoln, I can see no better choice that pic #5 as the quintessential choice. WELL done Terry!!
@perrone1 I agree with your general comments Tony, but like pic #3.
@tldaly LOVE IT! Make it into a model in any scale and I'd do an instant buy! Color, style and just these adjustments - perfecto!
The final iteration is my favorite! Thanks!

Yes sir. Agreed. Reading the very first reply post to the thread, you were held up as the bellwether for unmolested classic cars. And also mentioned, was Terry's refusal to reconstruct the actual 1:1 car. But as a 'hot rod Lincoln', one of these monstrosities could live at the Jackman Estate and it's up to you to decide which one.The soul of the car has been removed IMO.
OK, ducking for cover..................................
