Here's a 1960 Buick convertible, a mild custom 'as found' that is presentable but is too low, with wheels larger than the car needs and the front grill/bumper.......

combination appears too heavy for the car. I've done some edits that address all of the issues and share some of them here.

As found, guilty of all three appearance sins:

Increased ground clearance, cleaned up the general presentation:

Decreased wheel size, compressed the front and rear bumpers and grill:

Additional bumper and grill compression, further increased ground clearance:

Cleaned up front bumper, increased ground clearance:

Final, major ground clearance increase:

I believe that many of you dislike the appearance of cars that are too low and have oversized wheels. I am also sensitive to the frequently heavy, bulky appearance of bumpers and grills on full-sized American cars through the 70's or 80's. Many US manufacturers changed to much simpler grill/bumper designs in the past few decades.

Your comments are welcome.

Enjoy!

It's a custom, so I do not care if it loses its brand identity. The factors you mention, totally distract from an otherwise sharp looking custom. I'm all in on the last and final image! Clean, uncluttered, smooth!
