Hi everyone :
I wanted to fill people in to what happened to me. Here's a run down :
I went to visit an old friend of mine at his family's time-share condo at Mariott Desert Springs resort in Palm Desert, California. He has a mentally and physically handicapped younger brother who is a great friend, too and who was there, too.
We all had a great time and I was there for a week. Before I left, we all had a slight sore throat but nothing serious. Myself and Jim had more of a sore throat and his handicapped brother, less. Both of them are fully vaxxed and boosted. I felt good after I got home in about mid-July. I still must have felt that I should test myself and it came back positive for Covid, so I stayed alone and isolated. I still felt good and after a week it was again very, very faintly positive , so I isolated a bit longer. Within a few more days it was likely completely gone. This was probably the end of June.
About the night July 2, I remember texting my sister who is nearby, that although I felt good, I had a sudden dizziness feeling and laid down, but now I felt OK. Sometime during the night must have had some type of stroke and I texted sometime about 3:30 AM some jibberish and then "Help me" followed by more jibberish. I don't remember doing this.
By 6 or so she got the message and her and her husband came the couple blocks over. I barely remember struggling to open a door and they were also trying keys to get in. Once I somehow also opened a door, they and the paramedics got me to nearby Loyola Medical Center. I remember little of the following days other than I was eventually moved a room and then one right across the hall. I had apparently suffered a stroke . There, I began to remember better.
I am in recover at my sisters and and home. 3 of her daughters are nurses, so along with all my brothers and sisters (2 sisters and 3 brothers, along with 16 nieces and nephews) and am in good hands.
It will take a while but I am in recovery/therapy and trying to built back. I have a bit of a "notch" in my seeing, just above my main area of vision. I still have and love my cars and, although I don't know how I'll be right now, I still love guitar and photography and will try to get back those those, too. I make way to many typos now but I hope to get better. Thanks everyone.
Mike
