@perrone1   The last time I was in Texas was to attend the Cattlemen's Ball in Fort Worth (not to be confused with the larger Cattle Baron's Ball(s), with which it is associated), and, fortunately, the weather was fine, which was a blessing as it was black tie, unlike the more casual Cattle Baron's Balls.  There is no worse punishment, imho, than being draped in a penguin costume in humid weather.

All the years I lived there (Mansfield, then Joshua, TX.) I never attended the Cattlemen's Ball. But the Stockyard's was one of our favorite haunts - Billy Bob's, The Imax Theatre and Cattlemen's Restaurant:

One of Chicago's hottest stretches was during the 1933-1934 World's Fair summer where the temperature topped 105* and some of the coldest were in 1979 and later where the temp was 21* below zero.

Being Chicago, temperatures naturally have a wide variation from cold to hot and everything in between. But one generally uses there own limited knowledge to judge the situation. The Earth has been far hotter and far colder over time.

OMG - The official highest recorded air temperature on Earth is 134.1°F (56.7°C). This blistering reading was measured on July 10, 1913, at the Furnace Creek Ranch in Death Valley, California. [1, 2]

@perrone1   I was there by invite, from one of my investors, to 'escort' one of the dames of society in that area.  When she arrived she eschewed the expensive wine the waiter wanted to poor for her and instead told him to bring her 'three-fingers of bourbon and don't go near the water on your way back.'  Yes, she was a hoot.

I may have forgotten to mention that years earlier, I had met a long-legged Texas beauty in Florida, whom I subsequently married.  Even after divorcing we are still good friends.  California girls have their pluses, but Texas girls are the best in every category, in my experience.

Just checked, 98 deg. actual temp, feels like 102 deg., the dew point is 76 deg. which means the humidity is 49%. I can't go outside the house when it gets like this. I've got COPD/Emphysema and can barely breath the saturated air.

I confess, you are not wrong - Texas girls, ESPECIALLY the long-legged variety, are definitely a Hoot! And I like her style - three fingers high of a good bourbon will always beat even the best wine. And I love her advisement - don't go near the water.

GREAT account Pal!!
