My cousin Ron collects HOT WHEELS. That is all he collects. Good thing they are small, because he has over TEN THOUSAND HOT WHEELS Cars! I've never got in to them myself, primarily because of their "smaller" size, but I admire them and him for his passion. I shared this story on HOT WHEELS with him, and since I know there are logically HOT WHEELS collectors here on the Forum, I share it with you too.

I have over 120 1:64 cars & trucks + 39 1:43, none of them Hot Wheels. Hot Wheels I do buy for my grandkids as they are toys to me and priced as such usually.
While I agree somewhat that todays 1/64 hot Wheels are toys and are marketed as such, Mattel did offer some very nice models in 1/43 and 1/18 scale that really can't be considered toys. If you collect 1/43, Hot Wheels Elite series models are very nice. If you collect 1/18, Mattel had the license to produce Ferrari models both street and race vehicles. They offered several levels of models, most serious collectors went with the Elite series and they also offered a super elite series which are more scare than the elite series. Hot Wheels 1/18 could be hit or miss though. The Ferrari license is now held by Bburago, if your a Ferrari collector there are other manufacturers out there that make them but you'll notice a different price structure than the Bburago line. I have a few of the original 1/64 red lines in my collection that my brothers and I got as kids when they first came out in 1967.
