THE '57 OLDSMOBILE!  No matter when I see one, it stops me in my tracks and I'm memorized by it.

I like the 2-door Hardtop version the best due to that intriguing "3-split rear window', but this convertible is just drop dead gorgeous!

And even though it's "white" I'd still take the keys to it in heartbeat!

I noticed that the '57 Oldsmobiles use different taillights and bumpers.  The 98 and Super 88 use the same taillights and bumpers with exhaust ports.  The Golden 88 has a less flamboyant taillight design and generally uses bumpers without exhaust ports. The trunk lids are different as well.  98 has a flat trunk while both 88s share decklids with ridges that flow down from the roof. Pics down below show Golden 88 with both bumpers.  Golden 88 was the entry level Oldsmobile, although it sure doesn't look it!

@pete-rovero

Thanks for the additional great pics Pete!  The '57 Olds is a car that (for my eyes) is so perfectly proportioned at any angle you look at it.  And with regard to the split rear window, I think what makes it even more special than I think it already is, is that it was a one year style.  GM was wise in not keeping it for several model years so that it lost its enhancing draw.

Your #1 and #2 are the same as mine.  Being an Oldsmobile lover since a little kid, I rank them by styling like this:  1) 57  2) 62  3) 56  4) 55  5) 59  6) 63  7) 54.  And I love the later years 4-4-2 versions.  They were beauties in the Muscle era.

Love the 1957 Oldsmobile especially in this color! And I notice the creases start at the windshield, across the roof, between those cool split rear windows and across and down the trunk lid. We learn so much here in the lounge!!

The more we learn, the more fun we have.  And yes, the '57 Oldsmobile in this color is perfect.  Man, I like this one in my driveway!

@pete-rovero Pete, I never saw the different trunk lids before you pointed out the differences. Wonderful pictures George and Pete and George I agree on the 57 being the most beautiful Olds of all time.

Thanks Bob!  And I'll say it again, it's that "3 split" rear window that really makes it a standout.  I think the primary reason is because it was just a "one-year" styling feature, so it gets appreciated a little more for that reason.  Had it been a multi-year feature, the aura would have been lost. JMO.

My maternal grandfather bought this very same car and color brand new in '57.  I was just six years old, but I was ecstatic about it.  Great memory!
