....as I child I did this (something similar ) 🙄 😔 

One of my toys had a small square electrical plug-in with 2 small tabs ("ears" ) one on each side. The instructions read, "With prolonged use, plug-in may become hot. To avoid injury remove box, holding it by the ears." 

Well, that's exactly what I did, minutes later my dad walked in, "What the hell are you doing?"
