Do you remember July 20, 1969 ? I do and alongside me, and also watching on television, was my Grandmother. When she was born man had not even flown an airplane ..... yet we watched as an American astronaut landed and then set foot on the Moon. A small step and a giant leap hopefully.

Oh my, YES! Knowing my daughter was to be born two months later (September 1969) I photographed the television and the event shown live. A momentous occasion. Thanks for the reminder Mike!!!!!
I sure do remember watching this on TV. Thanks for reminder.

I remember how we all held our breath, waiting to hear what Neil Armstrong would say.

I was thinking that he was going to say something like "I hope I remembered to shut the stove off when I left home".
To me it is a darn shame and very unfortunate that Americans (or anybody from here for that matter) have not traveled back to the Moon since 1972. There is still quite a bit to see and understand there. Quite a bit ...
I remember our household was lined-up in front of the television set by my father. It felt like a momentous event, not just for human-kind, but for everyone who was able to watch or participate.

Jump out a perfectly good space craft and onto the surface of the moon? I'd have said "You first!"

Mike; you reminded me of what no doubt would have been the same experience for my grandmother. She lived in 3 centuries; born in Liverpool in 1899 and died in 2002, 3 months shy of her 103rd birthday. She was quite a woman...all 4' 11" of her....had 13 children....and not even Catholic! Lol.

+1 here Mike !
My Dads cousin and family showed up in a Beetle convertible and we all went inside to watch the landing. I kind of had they impression they didn't know or forgot about it. When they left the Moon we were at my cousins and dad set up his 8-mm movie camera and filmed it. I sent some of his movies to be transfered to CD. My brothers and I watched what he had filmed of the event. It was a little grainy, but brought back memories.
Remember it quite well, we were at our grandparents shore house on Long Beach Island, NJ for the summer. I was 12 at the time and was amazed at what I saw.
Someone remind me…what soundstage was that filmed on? LOL
