Hey....that longitude thingy goes right past Dunedin and Tampa, where I was watching ball on my holiday!
@jack-dodds You're lucky that longitudinal thingy didn't go right through your thingy.
@chris, many folks believe the Pacific Coast of South America is more in line with our West Coast.

Hmm, I'm still looking for the puzzle piece that will fit these two together.
Steve
That is remarkable and something that wouldn't really come to mind ! Also a projection which is centered on the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
Or, even more so, a projection which is centered on the Antarctic continent and Plato's / Solan's assertion that (in relation to Antarctica) that "all the world's oceans are really but one ocean."
@michaeldetorrice It's interesting Mike but I'm not sure I would put much credence in an assertion made by Goofy's dog. Don't know that Solan guy.....
@bob-jackman "You're lucky that longitudinal thingy didn't go right through your thingy."
Bob....I'm just thankful that my ball game wasn't spoiled by that longitudinal thingy piercing my hot dog or bag of roasted nuts; my god....I could have dropped my beer!

Steve ; I believe that piece was lost when the Panama Canal was created; but it may show up one day if the tide gets really low. Hope this helps.
🥵 I'm relieved to hear that.

Hmm..... I've never heard about this. Aside from their similar climates, Pacific Ocean views and mountainous terrain, there are no other "links."
I suppose the truly intriguing aspect is your pic, correct? How can the west coasts of both continents be so similar despite the fact they're offset? NOW I get it! 🤔 🙄 🤔
OK John, no more like this - it hurts to think. As one of my professors once said, "Learning is painful..." 😏 😏 😏

Ahem, and more so for some than for others...🤣🤣🤣
