Does anyone here wear a mask when out in public?

I do. So, if you do, why do you?

When outdoors I only wear a mask when I am in closer proximity to others. Indoors in public places of course I always wear one.
@jkuvakas Yes I wear a mask, two usually or a KN95. I have been vaccinated, I wear rubber gloves in public places. I think of it as a responsibility and so does my family. I have a daughter with health issues and our entire family got shots. I am at a complete lack of understanding how this turned into a political debate. I don't believe a country can be great, but the people of the country can do great things. Imagine if we were this divided in say WWII, no I want my gas, you can't have my old tires, you can't have my old papers etc and we would be speaking German. The men and women of that time made America great. My grandfather served, my dad served, although he always said he didn't, greatness is in a country's people...We should be so ashamed of ourselves, we are so weak at this point and time, it's scary. When will conspiracy theorist understand that these things have been spread around for years, pre WWII Jew's were eating babies, and are just for them, look, find out the truth for yourself, save the children, the election was stolen....Enough  Just imagine what we could do together

@josh Josh; thank God that the vast majority of people are sensible, caring, compassionate and have integrity. The ms media always seems to profile the other tiny percentage...because hype sells.
Yes and no.
I follow the CDC guidelines; I wear a mask when in public among other people and social distancing is not practical, not when I'm walking trails and there are few to no others around and I can get far out of their way when they are.
I received my second 💉 on February 4, but this has changed my behavior only in close, private proximity to a few other fully inoculated friends, again per CDC guidelines.
I agree we're in this together and want it over.

If just out in public ? No.
I live in Ohio, there is not a day that goes by that I do not catch crap about wearing a mask. I fired a long time employee today for not wearing a mask on the job. He had been written up three times, the site foreman fined me $500 because he had warned him and argued about it with him. I just don't understand??? I asked him, would you not wear a hard hat in a hard hat area? He said no but that's different, the virus isn't real...................so I'm a little hot right now, sorry for the rant.

That's why I wear a mask, as well, out of concern for those around me.

When outdoors I wear a double mask when I am in closer proximity to others but when alone on trails with my dog, they go in my pocket. Indoors in public places of course I always wear two. I got my first Pfizer shot on March 9th and am waiting for a second but will continue wearing until there is group protection. I'm in Canada which has done better than the USA generally but we are well behind in inoculations.Â
@john-barry I love that, LOL and thanks I needed a little humor

Yes, I wear a mask when I go out. As we reach our senior years, my wife and I are very much aware of the statistics of age and serious effects of the pandemic. We have limited our meetings with other people rather drastically.  This Friday we will receive our second shots, but that just means slightly more circulation for us. My grandfather used to tell me about his life during the great epidemic of 1919, the one that was later wiped off the collective memory, or so it seems. Perhaps as we come out of this one, thanks to science and government action, we will learn from this one.  Sorry if this is too emotional, but I'm tired after a year of restrictions. Well, at least it has given me the time and isolation to re-awaken my old hobby of building kit cars. Right now, I'm working on two! Â

Yes I wear a mask when I'm out amongst my fellow humans.Â
Over the last year, the pandemic has dealt all of us challenges that we could have never imagined. I think the biggest problem in our society today is two things, the first one being social media. It has allowed every man, woman and child to have a forum to spout off about anything and everything they want, and it causes a lot of heat as personal opinions are spewed off as being fact. The second is the news media that is in our face 24/7 every minute of every day. And it's very difficult to really get factual information when every radio and TV station claims to be reporting truth. Â
Pre-internet, we got up in the morning, had our coffee and read the newspaper. We then put that newspaper down and went about our day. We were entertained with music on the radio and entertained with more wholesome TV shows. Both of these are void in our modern society. Today, radio is practically 100% talk, opinion and debate, all of which tend to keep the general public in stressed frenzy. Â
This whole "where a mask or don't wear a mask" thing is a controversy that shouldn't be. Being that we are all equally capable of getting and spreading the Covid virus, common logic should be that together we can win this battle. There was a time in our history when people didn't question whether they should get a vaccine for measles, polio, the flu, and many other infectious and possibly deadly illnesses. But not anymore. Today, everyone wants to argue and claim they shouldn't have to do what they don't want to do, yet we claim to be a so-called united society. Â
Regardless of which side of this controversy one is on, we are a nation in great divide. That's sad. Â
