When you was a teenager, working in a grocery store, did anyone ever tell you to go find a shelf stretcher?

Any time someone asked my dad if he needed help finding something, he'd say he was looking for a sky hook.

On cutters (aka ships), we would send the newbies to find shore line in the rope locker or to go ask the Chief engineer for the keys to the sea chest.  They probably call that hazing now. 👴

At the Boy Scouts jamborees, we'd sent the tenderfoots out to borrow a left-handed smoke sifter from another troop.
