Loved it John. While the new plant to build the Continental was referred to it was not specifically named. The new plant was the Wixom plant. The plant would become the ultimate plant to work for in the Ford organization and to work there you had to be the best of the best. The primary products made at Wixom were always Lincolns and Thunderbirds. My 1963 Thunderbird Sports Roadster and 1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V were both built in the Wixom plant.

I knew that there were multiple coats of paint on this car, but didn't realize just how "hand-built" the car actually was.  No wonder it cost as much as Rolls Royce.  And, just like a Rolls, it didn't increase in value as much as collectors had hoped, especially for a stand-alone model with it's own factory and a total production of about 2,600 cars.

A recent and excellent model in 1:43 is from GLM: Amazing interior detail includes glazing of the tiny individual gauges, and detailed pedals suspended, and not just stuck to the floor.  Just cant get those to show up with my old point-and-shoot.
