The one that made me smile the most was the transistor radio.  I clearly remember saving up for my first one and when I finally got it I thought it was soooo cool!

aside from powering up a few of Dad`s strange Popular Mechanics garage tools,would this have been the era when 9-volt batteries earned their place in the house?
