Yep, a mob like that on a CA beach would be a direct slap in the face to all the healthcare workers who are working above and beyond the call to save lives. I guess asking folks to stay home and stop the spread of the virus is just too much to ask of some idiots. "They're taking away my rights," the morons scream, as they take to the streets with their assault weapons and disregard health warnings.

I have a sister and two nieces who are RNs, and my daughter is an MD (ICU hospitalist). They're giving their all to save people, and those who are demanding that everything be opened up don't have a clue. Or don't care. It's disgusting. Americans are still dying by the thousands every day, young and old, including some who have protested against the stay-at-home requirements. Is staying home unless necessary, then wearing a mask and maintaining some distance too much to ask in order to save your life?

I think it is critically important to respect the fact that there are many people stressed to the max over lost wages, businesses, bankruptcy looming, family discord. These folks are more likely to mentally minimize the spreading disease threat versus others who are at work in the front lines serving the public; or who live in areas like New York where people are dying by the thousands right in front of them. Its really important to know that emotions will run very high for some time yet and that the wide range of emotions is inevitable. I suggest we try our best to keep this in mind and respect our differences as we ride this nightmare out.

Very well said Jack. I think your wise words should be taken as a final pronouncement on this thread and that we should all get back to a degree of levity. Opinions will inevitably be strong and diverse, but personal insults between members are not needed here.

It's hard to imagine how anyone could have considered this a fun day at the beach. This, I think, is why many thought that there was no land left for development and once they got on the road they were amazed at how small their world really was.

I'm one of them, coming from Cleveland Ohio - a very crowded city. I was in awe of the wide open spaces. The first thing that hit me was "God's country".
