The 1950 Studebaker was a beautiful car ..... coming or going ! Here, Miss JoAnn Kops has unfortunately speared herself in the cheek with a big paintbrush but she still is gamely deciding what color of gray they should do the full-size Studebaker in. Smile

There's an entertaining movie - I forgotten what it's called; perhaps someone would remember - that is set in the 1950s and is shot in black and white. Everybody is terribly conservative and harbours some sort of hidden pain. As the hero of the story goes about daily life, and helping these friends and neighbours to see their lives differently, the film gradually - in spots here and there - changes to colour.

It's a pity this ad' hadn't been done in colour; or perhaps that is the point? You can have whatever colour you imagine.

This one may have originally been done in color but I have it on my computer in monotone. In everything but clear, the Studebaker was a gorgeous automobile !

Black and white..ha!  Looks like Ms. Kops is taking the easel way out.  Btw...it is a little known fact that she also introduced face piercing to North American suburbia.

Looks like JoAnn is changing her mind about brush painting those models! I wonder if any of them still exist?

That's a good question ! I am sure they would make superb collectors items.

Perhaps there might be a show in, say, Countryside, IL or some such place, where a model might exist or someone may know more about them ? Hey ..... wait a minute.... ! Idea

Thanks Mike. Was this picture taken during the time your father was working with Studebaker?

Thanks, Bob ! This image was probably taken some time well before my Dad started doing exhibit work with Studebaker and I actually first found it somewhere out on the internet. The late Fifties and into the 1960's "Avanti" era at Studebaker in South Bend, IN is generally the time I remember him doing work for them. I was so delighted and astonished when a prototype Avanti was over at our house and I was able to sit in the driver's seat. It was a futuristic spaceship in my eyes !

Of course, you usually don't realize your good fortune at the time .........

Pictures can help recall the past.
