I had one of these; a black HT, 390. Its gas gauge needle had a bend to the right

It was the thirstiest car I've ever owned and it wasn't that fast!

Interesting...air-conditioning compressor under the hood but no air vents in the dash!?!?!?

But a stunner .... thanks

Probably the underhood shot is a different car Bob but a great restoration of a well equiped car

Don't forget, the steering wheel moved right for easy entry.

Excellent photos of the red 1964

Some of the best pics of a quality restoration of a 1964 Bird conv. To restore this car to this level takes patience and deep pockets as just electrical components are extremely complex. Another two weeks of rain to wash the Ottawa streets of winter salt dust and hope to have my 1966 back on the road after winter hibernation. Previous owner spent time and effort on the restoration. It took me an additional four years & four shops to get everything working. Even the clock works which is not an easy fix.

1966 Bird options

FYI fender shields were a T-Bird option 1964-66, 1966 had additional SS. trim on front/back wheel wells. Whitewall tires with the red band were an additional option only 1965-66. DM got it right on their 1965 T-Bird model.
My 1966 conv, optioned with AC & power windows came from factory without optional fender shields (skirts) and with optional red band whitewall tires (I have the build sheet). PO did find NOS 1966 fender shields. I have the option of now showing my 1966 with or without correct fender shields with correct SS trim unique to only 1966.

Last year I replaced the older bias-ply reproduction tires with new reproduction radial tires, correct whitewalls w/red band. Radial tires had to be custom ordered.

We see pics of the DM 1965 Bird, the red band whitewalls looks too obvious. Reality, the DM Bird tires got it correct, much less red then pics indicate.

My 1966 Bird 1:1, without optional skirts, with optional red-band white wall tires from the factory.
