I don't think he could afford it. I hear his job offers dried up after his onstage 'act' failed.

Check out his segment on "Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee" with Seinfeld.

I have to assume his relative lack of success post-Seinfeld is simply because he is typecast as Kramer. He did such a great job of that character its hard to shake that impression when you look at him....impossible really. Mind you he would have made many millions during the Seinfeld run, a situation most comedians would have KILLED for. In the big picture he is an incredibly fortunate person IMO.

Thanks for the tip Jack. That was an interesting view. I'd never heard of this show. I'm sure Richards does just fine $ wise with syndication. I did like the VW they were in.

Also, the killer could have been a joke that was considered to be offensive that quickly made the comedians onstage career effectively over

Rick Nelsons song, "Garden Party" described what can happen when a performer tries to change direction. The last words of the song....."if memories are all they want I may as well drive a truck"

Steve, I've seen every one (you're right...I have no life) and most of the segments are either interesting and insightful to downright hilarious. Kind of poignant and special too as sadly a few of them have since passed on (Gary Shandling, Bob Einstein, Don Rickles). Time well spent!

Richards took a lot of heat a few years back because when he was doing a stand-up comedy routine a couple of Black guys started heckling him. He went off on them big time and called them some inappropriate names. That incident really hurt his career I think. He feels bad about it even now and refers to it in the segment Steve mentions.
