Here is a picture of the counter at a Dodge service department in 1936. That's a clean and well-swept cement floor !

This is a very cool picture, showing the service desk and parts department. It was a simpler time.....

Cool pic - thanks. Love the memories. I agree with Jack - it WAS a simpler time. I always enjoyed taking a car in for service. As they worked on it I visited the parts department, usually in the same area, to look over accessories and then roamed the show room looking at all the new cars and sitting in the drivers seat taking in all the new gizmos!

I can do this today. In addition, the customer lounge has desks setup to accommodate PC or phone hookups. It also has comfy leather cushioned chairs for reading or tv viewing. A variety of coffee blends and bottled water are readily available. Before covid, bagels with cream cheese or butter, danish and yogurt were also available.

There are some nice service areas now days. If only most of the automobiles were as cool, too !
