Here is a picture I came across of a Ford (perhaps a '52 ?) right-hand drive utility-ute type vehicle. Perhaps someone can identify this car and whether it was offered by an overseas Ford factory ? It looks pretty cool in any event !

X52 Ford vehicle

The front looks like a 1953 model. I do not know about the rest.

It's all FoMoCo factory and was sold in Australia; it's called a Mainline UTE.

Thanks, all ! It is an interesting Ford vehicle. One wonders if such a vehicle would have been successful here with that platform and in those years before the Ranchero and El Camino.

The Australian arms of the US big three did lots of these Utes, car based pickups,  I recall, Fords, Plymouths, Chevrolets, Holdens and others.  These may well have been the inspiration for the Ranchero and El Camino in the USA.

@john-quilter Exactly right John. In fact, there were a few threads   on this very subject, as I recall, months ago. Car based pick-ups did carve out somewhat of a niche in North America but were far more successful & ubiquitous in other parts of the world.
