Wow, and a Bulgarian folk song in the background. I wonder if the if the skydivers knew the meaning of the song, it is actually a sad song. If any interest, I can translate it for you.

@jkuvakas

That was easier than I though, I found it translated. The italicized text below was not included in the skydivers clips. I found it fascinating that these 2 Brazilian (I guess) daredevil skydivers jumping over a "mountain" picked up a song that depicts 2 friends killed by the mountain and being mourned by the singer and loved ones.

The mountain has overturned (collapsed)

Versions: #1#2
The mountain has overturned
And captured1 two shepherds.
And captured two shepherds.
Two shepherd, two friends.

The first one begs: "Let me go!
My first love is waiting for me!"
The second one begs: "Let me go!
My old mother is waiting for me!"

The mountain replies:
"Oh, you two shepherds,
A beloved one grieves from morning till noon
but a mother grieves for life!2"

  • 1.Literally - buried beneath
  • 2.Literally - to the grave

@chav, Thanks. Not really the song you want to be thinking about while wing suiting so close to a mountain!

You can't help thinking that the greater the danger, the greater the thrill for these guys. Perhaps they do know of the song's significance?

Spectacular scene and spectacular post many thanks John and thanks for the story of the song too, Chav. Although she's Romanian, I bet Maria Tanase would have done an equally haunting version.
