...For whatever reason, over the years, I have come to have a preference for the gas filler door to be on the driver's side of the car. (Here in the US, that's on the left.) I own cars with it on both sides but find it more suitable, to me, to be on the side where I pull up to the gas pump.
For whatever reason, most of my vehicles which have tended to be German, British, French and Japanese had their filler caps on the right side. I just got used to going in gas stations that way. Most awkward was way back when with fillers behind the rear licence plate and behind rear lights. Then there was that pesky VW Bug where you had to open the nose and use a wooden dip stick when filling.
Good answers guys!! JK; most vehicles, on the dash by the fuel gauge, show a pump icon. If there isn't an arrow pointing to the side that has the fuel door, the icon's hose is shown on that side.
On my 61 Corvette the filler is on the left side just behind the driver's door, on my 63 Thunderbird it's in the center of the rear bumper and on my 55 Imperial it's on the top of the right rear fender just behind the standup taillight.

LOL! You need a BIG score card for your cars Bob!!
Lol, and another way to end up famous on Youtube is to absent-mindedly drive away from the station with the break-away hose and nozzle still emerging from the filler port ! Â
I've had several cars with "center fill" but I prefer "driver's side."  I like the "same side convenience" ...get out, fill up, get back in. 🙂Â

I'm with you Chris. I prefer the driver's side as well.

Good grief. I always thought that symbol meant "Remember - this car sucks up fuel like a vacuum cleaner"
