My first remembrance of the term was at an early age, hearing my mom and dad talking about any car that was in need of multiple repairs. 'Hey Hon, look at that jalopy!'

My remembrance relates to early 20-30's cars, or something that the Shriners would use in parades.

A old car put together from parts on hand.  Would be my definition.
