PIC: Reality check......

One of many makeshift morgues adjacent to a NYC hospital. Those that think the virus is a hoax or think it's not fatal, better think again.

(No Pic) Ever been to a Tire store exactly when they open yet you're their ONLY customer?

(I KNEW I SHOULD'VE TAKEN A FEW PICS!!) Never in MY LIFE had I been at Discount Tire, as they open, yet I was the ONLY one there. I brought in a wheel and they had my flat fixed by 8:16am. I waited 16 minutes. When I left, the parking lot was still EMPTY!

Unreal!

Actually, in the USA, FAR FEWER people have been affected by this than in the regular 2017 flu season in which 45 million Americans caught that year's flu virus (even with a vaccine) and some 80,000 died from it. So the current numbers are nowhere near some earlier flu seasons in the U.S., especially the 2017 outbreak.

Mike, the death toll is lower BECAUSE the USA "closed." Imagine if we did nothing? Still think...

...the Flu is worse?

It's very difficult to respond to Allan's question, Tom and leave politics aside.

Initial reaction by some folks was to call the growing world wide rate of infection a hoax and to blame China and the World Health Organisation, WHO squandering valuable days and weeks that could have allowed the nessesery preventative measures to be put in place earlier and begun the importation and the local manufacture of Personal Protection Equipment - PPE, that would probably have seen the protection of Doctors and Nurses and prevented the deaths of a number of them while treating patients with Covid-19. These medical heros, as many of us see these people even in good times, worked without the protection they needed, instead having to use plastic garbage bags and regular face masks in their work of saving others. Several of these dedicated people Doctors and Nurses died from an almost criminal lack of the protection they needed and certainly deserved.

Covid-19 is not "the flu" and its potential to decimate a countries population is unimaginable to most of us if appropriate prospective measures are not taken quickly and abandoned too early, should not be minimised by drawing false comparisons with the yearly visit by influenza.
Some people in high places and corporations want the economy opened up early and prematurely so the money grab can wind back up again. Caring nothing for people, caring only for excessive profits from stock manipulations and futures trading.
