I'd love to sit the Bench in front of this gas station on Route 66 and watch the Hudson's drive in. It would be a most relaxing trip down memory lane.

I'll join ya George...just getting us a couple Cokes from the machine inside!

I'll enjoy your company Jack. This is true American that is forever lost on a current species of humans that "Can't stop and smell the Roses". A simpler, calmer, quieter, and kinder time. I'm glad I'm old enough to have lived it and remember it.

@georgeschire I appreciate the generation I was fortunate enough to be born into very much. As for stopping to smell the roses or the coffee.....when I retired from my second career 4 years ago I moved to a lakeside town of 16,000 in Alberta which has proven to be the peaceful alternative I needed so badly. I am a very happy camper; I still need to work on managing my frustration about the state of our world however....but I am getting there...lol! I remind myself literally daily how much I have to be thankful for....and in spite of our bigger world picture there is very much indeed.
@geno Certainly Geno...but George and I got the last 2 Cokes....would you settle for a Dr. Pepper?
I'll bet in that old pop machine, there is also an Orange Soda. And with or without the pop, our meeting and conversation on and around that bench will be a trip down memory lane that money can't buy.

@georgeschire For sure George.....a day spent Hudson spotting from the service station bench while sipping soda is one hell of a fine time!
Bet that cafe has a great lunch special, and from the soda machine I’ll take an ice cold R.C.!

Okay, let's see...
Three or four old car buffs sitting on or near the bench, nursing some soda's, after enjoying a Burger and Fries at the little Mom and Pop Diner, and watching Hudson's lining up to fill their tank, WOW!
Seriously, this might really be a sneak peak of Heaven. I like it!

Thanks for the pictures of a long gone time.

@david-vandermeer Yes David, and a Moon Pie to go along with that R C.
@geno LOL....my fave soda too Geno! This bottle style would fit right into the dated service station scene George posted. Perfect for washing down that Moon Pie Bob mentions.
The background in the pictures George posted looked familiar, so I dug out my Route 66 album. This is Spencer, Missouri when I travelled Route 66 in 1999. As you can see, everything is boarded up. My Continental is parked about where the gas station canopy is. I would have had a Dr. Pepper, but there was no place to sit!
