Many items we use today were invented not that long ago. Lots of debate about some of these.
Our household had an early TV set; a Muntz dated 1948 - I was 1 year old. I recall watching Hopalong Cassidy and The Lone Ranger about the time I was 2, 3 and 4. Window air conditioners came along much later to replace multi-room fans.
My dad was in the Navy during WW II with a friend whose family owned an appliance strore. In 1947 we got a Helicrafter television set. The set was all metal with air vents everywhere to cool all of the tubes. Being seven, I remember that the set was quite large while the screen, black, white, was very small. We were the tallk of the neighborhood.
I remember Party stores in the 1970's having big commercial grade microwaves; as a kid, we'd have the owners/clerks warm up our sub sandwiches & banana flips! All we had at home that was comparable were toaster ovens.
