Thanks George. I've always liked Buicks. We moved into our new house in 1956, a single block of homes built by one developer. On the street, one 1954 Buick Super hardtop, one 1953 Buick Super sedan, and one 1949 Buick Super sedan. What were the Dinsmores doing there with a 1954 Ford Victoria?
Yes they were special, I especially dislike them. Two people I know had early '50s Buicks in the early '60s, they both sounded like a vacuum cleaner when in a hurry and couldn't get out of their own way with the straight eight and the dynaflow. Handled like big old tubes. Plus I disliked their styling, but that is subjective of course.
@marmon16, LOL, so you were that odd family on the block, huh? Hey, back then to my eyes all cars were SPECIAL. Loved those '54 Ford Victoria's. My family owned one too.
That black 1955 2drht. is my fave of the bunch by far! It's true what Bruce says about the early late 40s, early 50s being slow off the mark, but they were designed as cruisers and that they did well IMO. The performance picked up mid-50s.
Here's another of my dad's Buick Supers taken in 1959. This was his 1957. Huge car. The girl standing next to the Buick is my girl friend who became my wife in 1961. We'll celebrate our 60th anniversary this coming June.

CONGRATULATIONS on your upcoming 60th anniversary Bill. That is an awesome memory and moment to celebrate. Compared to you, I'm just a lightweight...this past January my princess and I celebrated our 47th together. As Roy Clark sang, "If I Had To Do It All Over Again, I'd Do it with You"....I tell her that often. God Bless wives!
