Before Covid, I was driving through the new countries of the old Yugoslavia and was in the main, pleased with what I was seeing. I travelled across the border from Montenegro to Albania, an old fashioned border crossing that reminded me of the old Soviet Union days. Once across and heading to Tirana, the Albanian capital, I noted that on both sides of the two lane highway were a continuous three feet high accumulation of plastic water bottles. These continued for more that 100 kilometres.

If the 'Third World' leaves piles like this, how much water bottle waste are we accumulating.

Maine is considering banning individual water bottles. It is kinda silly to buy individual plastic water bottles when the water in them is from the same source as the municipal water supply. Poland Springs does not come from a spring but the same aquifer as the Freiburg, Maine water supply. Millions of these bottles along the road side and millions more floating in the oceans are a disgrace just for a little convenience, then there is the cost of the bottle of water.  BUT NOTHING SEEMS TO MATTER TODAY, EXCEPT THE INDIVIDUALS CONVENIENCE; carry a refillable bottle [oh no a bit of inconvenience] wait for a drink [oh, I have to have my water when I want it and I can't carry an empty bottle] IIIIIIII, my my my convenience is more important than the WORLD. That water bottle is a NEED to these people who I guess don't know what it is to actually need something. I'll shut up now.
