I don't think Ramblers ever got the attention that they deserved.
Had one or two in my family and they were always great cars with great engines and very reliable.

It is a pretty cool wagon concept from AMC. It is sometimes production feasibility and cost factors that work against a concept.

My family went from Hudson [great cars] to Ramblers [junk all 5 that I remember in the family] always breaking down. Good thing my father & uncle were good mechanics, the dealer shop sucked.

My family had 2 Rambler wagons. A '63 and a '64. Both were reliable and ran great.

I had a '63 Rambler wagon same as this one; it ran really well and was immaculate.

1. 195? Rambler [used Mom's], never could find the problem of the drivers side door opening [rarely] during a right hand turn.
2. 1965 Classic 550 [new, Mom's first], always some very minor problem, easily fixed but had to be fixes every week it seemed like.
3. 1968 Ambassador [new Mom's], great looking, but used a quart of anti-freeze every 3000 miles, after 2 year the service manager took & drove the car for 3 weeks to find a cracked head [290].
4. 1973 Javelin 360 auto [used, Dad's, I bought when he retired for my wife to drive], Couldn't get out of its own way until i removed all the air pollution equipment. Transmission died on the wife at around 70,000 miles.

before the Austin, the problem free car she loved 1948 Commodore
The car I gave Mom after the Ambassador, her last car, '70 Dodge Coronet R/T left over new.
