WOW, what good memories. We've gone from Stuckey's to Buc-ee's!
Never set foot in one. I don't think they were in the New England were they?

@brush I don`t think they extended that far north Brush
Being Canadian I never experienced Stuckey's but thanks for the trip down a much missed era.

Always a welcome place to stop on long trips. Before state rest stops were abundant, you came to rely on a Stuckey's. Clean rest rooms, competitive gas prices and yes, as they said, the pecan products were ample and tasty. (Pa-kahn, we pronounced it in the south. Most others called them pee-cans).
JB, there's still a Stucky's on I55 between Memphis, Tn and Jackson, Ms.
Every year from the late forties through the mid fifties we would leave the St. Louis area and head to Florida on vacation. There were no Interstates so the majority of the trip was on two lane highways. There were no Stucky's in Missouri that I knew of but once into Kentucky and Tennessee signs would appear. Some of these signs would indicate that a Stucky's was only, for instance, 120 miles ahead. For hours my brother and I would ask dad how much longer until we were there. Not only did that have to be irritating to my parents, although they never said so, it was before we had cars with A/C such as a 1949 Mercury. Wonderful memories but I'm now at an age that I prefer todays cars and the Interstate highways.
If you do a Stucky's in Missouri Google search you will found many of them still open in Missouri.
