Firstly this has got to be one of the most amazing images, and indeed 'car incidents' of all time. Like a scene from a 100 Hollywood action movies. Imagine realising what has happened, seeing cars in front of you topple over, hitting the brakes and............

Nice pics.  I've never seen a 1974 Holden coupe before - I like it very much.   It's unreal that THIS particular example survived given its precarious history.  Also, the colors on that '62 Studebaker are outstanding.  That placard info is correct, but I wish they'd had mentioned that the design language actually dates to 1953.

WOW. Bet you had a great time there Geoff, and thank you for sharing these photos. The Holden, in pristine original condition, other than some deep chassis scratches, is cool.

All the cars look terrific and photographing the info placards was appreciated!

Geoff, I'm overwhelmed by the cars presented here today. I feel like a kid in a candy store...I don't know what to look at first. For many of us the Holden Monaro is something different.  Sorry for the Tasman Bridge disaster. Gotta love "Lizzie" too. So many note worthy examples. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with the group.

thank you gentlemen. Still a few more there and lots of bikes. This museum is in Launceston, in the north of the island. There is also another excellent museum further along the north coast in Wynyard I visited a few years back but didn't have time this trip. Tasmania, perhaps indeed like the rest of Australia, has many large and mid sized cities scattered all over the island. Again, like the rest of Australia, relatively poorly covered by public transport which in turn has produced road traffic dominance. Happily this has in turn produced a pretty decent 'car culture' down here, and a strong appreciation of our motoring history, and vehicle history in general. Believe it or not....on a stretch of rural road between 2 mid sized cities, 4 Cobras came heading towards me from the opposite direction. We were all travelling too fast for pics. Went looking for info and found this:

Kinda gives you an idea of the level of car enthusiasm that is around here!
