@car224 I keep spreadsheets on everything, which has paid off handsomely as I have grown older. I have been collecting fine art for decades and I couldn't possibly remember everything in the collection, nor where it is located, without a spreadsheet. I have carried this over to model collecting, as well.
I started to accumulate stuff more than 55 years ago. I have moved frequently, city-to-city, state-to-state, country-to-country, mostly only for career advancement. That is my excuse and I stick by it. Each time I moved, I got rid of stuff. However, with each move I find I have to buy more stuff. Another table, another chair, another lamp. That's the reason I have pounds of picture hooks, nuts, bolts, and hardware I have no clue for it's application. Six hammers, two dozen Philips screwdrivers (mostly stripped and useless), a dozen tape measures, and why do I still have 30-year old plumbing tape that I have moved twice. I delete stuff with each move and then add more stuff. I keep miscellaneous small auto parts for cars I sold 20 years ago, and no clue now what those parts were meant for. To my knowledge I have not ordered a duplicate model car by mistake, but still unpacking my models after my last move three years ago. Don't rush me! Next week, or next month I will have all my models on display!? I am a book junkie. I have at least 20 books I have not read, unfortunately mixed up with the books I have read, and I have forgotten which books I have read. But my bookcases look great. Recently I received a copy of "Jaguar XK8 & XKR (1996-2005): The Essential Buyer’s Guide". But I bought that same book years ago. At my age doubt if I will ever buy this Jaguar, and thankfully Amazon has a convenient return policy. I want to get rid of more stuff, but haven't gotten rid of the useless stuff I last moved. Next week, or next month, promise.
I also keep spreadsheet's on my furniture: pet fur, dust, smoking, spreadsheets keep the upholstery clean. Obviously I don't entertain much in my old age.
@car224 See that.... these Forums are not only entertaining, there also topical AND informative. 😉
