This is not the point where you would get out to stretch your legs. My sister went on such an open vehicle tour in Africa years ago and experienced this type of scenario. Their nervous group were advised that the lion only sees the overall shape of the vehicle and occupants so does not consider it a meal choice. She found the experience unnerving but very amazing. I assume this knowledge was the result of many lion interviews.
