I put the '57 ahead of the '55 because of the Dash & the 12 volt electric system & the deep dish steering wheel.
@brush I love the '57 just a tad less than the '55 but it is gorgeous as well. The '56 with the butt wart is spoiled IMHO.

Excellent points Bruce!

Yeppers. It actually is said to negatively effect handling as well.
For me, for '55, I'd want in this order: 1) OLDSMOBILE 2) CADILLAC 3) MERCURY
George Schire
Oakdale, Minnesota
Of the three choices, I would rank them, Mercury, Chevy, T-bird.
1955 was the big year for American automobiles ..... and for rock 'n roll ! Everybody seemed to have great cars for 1956.
We had a 1955 Pontiac and a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air in coral and grey ......just like the one on the picture.

Mike; There seemed to be landmark styling change years for American cars. For me they were 1949, '55, '57, '61 and '65. I suppose '59 is worthy as well; particularly for GM.
I used to work in the same building as a guy who restored his '55 Bel Air HT, but in the reverse of these colors shown below. It looked really nice and was something a bit different. I looked for such an example on the net but no luck.
