Neil Young wrote about contracting Polio at age five and how it can impact your life. Here, he performs it at The Band's "Last Waltz." It's a moving, poignant song made all the more intimate when we know where it came from. It's also one of his more inspired performances, with Joni Mitchell singing the background vocals.

Wow, that's really something, because Joni Mitchell also had polio as a child.

I had no idea that either of them contracted the disease. I had polio in 1952, at age 5, that prevented me from walking for 2 years. Neil was born about a year and a half before me and had it (in Canada) about a year prior to me. Joni contracted it the same time I did in 1952. Small world.

My youngest sister contacted Polio in 1951- died in 1960 during a surgery- still miss her to this day!
