How did we get to number 48? Well, we're no experts, but here are some things that have made it easy.
Last night we were talking about the Unity Candle we lit at our wedding church ceremony. Each of us took our individual candle and then together lit the Unity Candle, signifying that in marriage and under God we were now ONE. On that day 48 years ago, and to this very day, we've always been ONE. Putting each other first in every thought and decision made, and always listening to what each other says. Being able to admit when we're wrong and always realizing that each others feelings are more important than being the winner in any situation.

We laugh because, when we do disagree, one of us will say, "Don't talk to me for the rest of day", and then only for a few minutes we say nothing. After that brief silence, we embrace in a hug, say "I love you" and go on with our day. We made a promise on January 12, 1974 to always be there for each other, it's a promise that has been easy to keep because we care more about each other than we do ourselves.

Two years ago in January 2020 we were faced with a fear that our time together might be coming to an end when Lorraine was diagnosed with her Cancer. We each were dealt with a different challenge. She was facing a reality that she might not survive the Cancer and I was struggling with maybe having to continue on without her.
During our wedding vows, there were those words, "I will care for you in sickness and in health". Being honest, it was something that at age 22, it didn't seem to be anything to think about. I will never say the role as caregiver was fun, nor was it a role that I wanted. But it was a role I embraced and I wanted to succeed at, more than anything I'd ever done in my life. Through these last two years, we've come to love each other even more. We made it through that difficult year and one day at a time since.

God has always been our silent partner, we know He is always walking with us no matter what each new challenge brings. I am thankful and blessed to have Lorraine's hand and heart as our journey to FOREVER continues.  As ONE together!

Beautifully said George and congratulations on your 48th. Adversity does make you stronger and confirms love. My wife Lois and I are heading for our 60th this year. It has not always been easy, but we have done it together. I wish Lorraine and you, George, the very best.

Thank you!  My words explain our success.  That isn't to imply that what has worked for us, is the perfect formula for every marriage.  I do though get asked from time to time what is our secret and I give the same answer I just did.  Life and marriage are complicated.

George, Blessings for many more.

Thank you Bob.  We certainly pray for many more.  And same to you, as I recall just recently you mentioned that you've got a few years on us in the marriage game.  Many more wished for you as well.
