I think it looks good ! I can see nice design elements from several cars in it, either intended or incidental. Perhaps Riviera, Corvair Cougar, etc. Some of the Studebaker design concepts and ideas perhaps also could be seen here, too.

I agree David....it had good potential. It would be interesting to see the tail lights.

There's something about it that looks like a 'rationalised' Corvair!
My instant thought was "Corvair", which I think was generated by the area over/around the rear wheel. The rest of the design didn't do that for me though.

Personally, I like it. It's much more mainstream than many of AMC's production models. I was able to find one image of the rear of this car for your viewing pleasure.

Now that I have had a peek at the tail end I think, with a few tweaks, AMC could have had a winner with this one.

I would have worked my ass off to save money to buy this when I got my driver's license.

My immediate thought upon seeing the tail end view was that it reminded me of an early 70s Toyota Celica.
