Amazing.  I'm mezmerized, cautionary and worried about self-drivers.  Can't help thinking "Here is where another income stream for small business taxi and Uber (etal) drivers goes bye-bye".  The technology is beyond incredible for me to understand.

Truthfully, I never thought it would be possible, but I'm not laughing any more.

But, reality sets in and I realize that it will be well beyond my life time when all cars will be autonomous.  They are much too expensive for the general public to own.  The only way for this technology to succeed is to do away with personal cars and provide self-drivers to everyone on an affordable basis that would actually be less expensive the owning a car.

If and when that happens we will be living an entirely different way of life which I'm not sure I approve.  "Nuff said . . ."

Yes...'nuff said...lol.   Too much of a culture shock for this old car guy to embrace.  I'm not very good with such change, even though it will be best for safety and the environment no doubt.

I just love this stuff.  My wife, who hates driving, is very much looking forward to the day that she doesn't have to drive anywhere anymore.  However, unlike her, I love driving and every time I have an opportunity to get behind the wheel, it's a joy.  Her car has semi-autonomous driving which is extremely useful in stop-and-go traffic.  It will steer itself for a short period of time but it will brake and accelerate on its own.  That's a very convenient feature.  I'm guessing when full autonomy is available, there will be times I'll use it and times that I won't.  I will enjoy having the option to choose.

Simply incredible! About 10% of that language is foreign to me (that's scary on to itself!). Makes me want to push my "ICE car" (with voice activation, touch-screen controls, auto-breaking, driver alerts, BSD, LKA, etc, etc...) in the river!  Compared to this....I'm driving a horse & buggy!
