Cool shot! I had two of them - both company cars. Our fleet manager reported so many problems they discontinued offering them. Not very fast either.
@perrone1 Tony, I agree. The textile company I was working at ordered 5 of them for the sales people. One of the guys said no and paid the extra amount to get an Impala. He was glad he did, as they were a set of cars that they could not get rid of fast enough. Always in the shop.
I guess they didn't do the P.D. any favor with them.
Story time:
The Shelton P.D. got Studebaker Larks one year in '64 - '65 and within 6 months they rolled over 3 of the 4 cars used.
A neighbor bought one of these. The neighbor was known to be quite thrifty. One day I was out working in my yard and I heard this neighbor calling me from his garage asking me to come over. When I got there he said he was stuck. Turns out his hand was stuck up inside the dashboard of the car. I asked him how that happened and he told me he was trying to flip off a flag that appeared to let him know it was time to take the car into the dealer for service. Turns out I had to take half of the dash out to get his hand loose. These cars also had a reputation for losing rear axle shafts due to a retainer malfunction. Talk about garbage.
Yikes!!These cars also had a reputation for losing rear axle shafts due to a retainer malfunction.
GM "malaise special" Chevy. Absolute garbage.
