This 1/18 Norev 1966 MB 200 sedan ALWAYS bugged me because despite everything opening.... the sunroof was sealed. Well, I had to unseal it. The sunroof is NOW removable. I also took care of a few other things (lowered the suspension, detailed the wheels, fabricated a trunk mat, etc.. ) Eventually I'll do a better spare wheel... but THAT'S an entirely different project for a another time.
PART 1 OF 2
Great job! Patience is a virtue and you seem to have a lot of it.
What a tremendous improvement! The final pics show off a fabulous model - WELL done Chris, WELL done!!
Your documented modification process clearly demonstrates how much work is required to do the engineering and execution of modification projects. With diecast models that were never intended to be modified, the work is always intensive. Murphy's Law of "Nothing is as easy as it looks" always seems to apply. Well done, as usual!
@perrone1 Thanks Tony, like surgery.... one SLIP of the hand would've spelled disaster. 😲
Murphy's Law of "Nothing is as easy as it looks" always seems to apply.
A true statement, period. And 99.8% of the time that has certainly the been MY experience!
In this case, however, I theorized, more-or-less, EXACTLY what I discovered once the model was apart. The BONUS was that the gray headliner was NOT glued in (as I theorized ) but instead held down by 4 rivets that I simply cut around then inserted dental floss to exert upward pressure from underneath. Happily, it worked perfectly. 😀
