@perrone1 I know, right? And all in 1/35 scale - I doubt that truck is even 12" long. No doubt that modeler won a prize, or two. 👍 🤓
That is awesome. I used to go to the IPMS (International Plastic Model Society) model contest. There was always some builder that put me and every one else to shame.
Funny. My mind didn't go first to he execution of this vignette. It was the research that went into this fabulous conversion. Having grown up as a kid saturated with WWll stock footage, it was almost that I had seen it all. Then, the Soviet Union fell and all their archives were released to the West. About the time I was researching for my dioramas, there was a flood of info, photographs and videos that were so helpful in detailing engines, cockpits and the like. Many times I had to guess configurations of sub assemblies and were delighted to find I guessed correctly when all these previously unseen photos were released. As to this vignette... the builder's design and execution is world class. It's very reminiscent Of Francois Verlinden's work.
@rich-sufficool Well there you go; I'm so glad you - probably more than anyone else on this site - can appreciate this well-crafted, and historically accurate diorama. Thanks for chiming in! 😉
@chris I see so many well crafted models Like this at shows and it kills me not to be able to pick it up and place it where I can see and photograph it from all angles. I was reminded of it when I wondered if the license plates identified it as Army (WH), Luftwaffe (WL) or SS, with unit markings on the front fenders. Its color is late war Dark Yellow which was 1943-1945.
