I've had too many negative experiences buying models on eBay, this summer, and rather than continue in that vein I thought I might have a go at building some from scratch...well, almost scratch, and I decided to start with two of my favorite marques - Rolls Royce and Delage. I am bidding on a 1/24 Heller Delage D8 SS kit and I just bought a 1/16 Revell 1934 Rolls Royce Phantom II Continental kit and @chris will be delighted to learn it has functioning doors, hood, etc. The Delage, unfortunately, will be a sealed unit, though I have some ideas on how to improve it. The Rolls is on the way and I'll update as things progress.
Delage D8 SS:
"Chris will be delighted to learn that my 1/16 Revell 1934 Rolls Royce Phantom II Continental kit has functioning doors, hood, etc."
"Delighted?" Hell, I'm OVERJOYED!
...you've been following my '41 Chevy trunk project? Everything must open! 😆 😆
As for your Delage D.8SS, either "fix it," or throw it out! 😆 🤣 😉
@perrone1 @chris The Rolls arrived yesterday, and it does look to be a complete kit. The Delage D8 SS auction ends tomorrow and if I am fortunate and win then I will wait until it arrives, so I can work on that one, first. This 1/16 Rolls is going to take up some space in my work area and it will be best to have everything else out of the way before I start.
Finally! The cowpokes have been restless around the ranch here of late. It's good to see and hear of things starting to turn Jake!
Time, maybe, for a BBQ Blowout, a barn dance and a dosse doe, Pard!!
@perrone1 Thank you for the idea, but I'm up for a bit of peace and quiet, for now. I spent time in the garden, this afternoon, after I painted a bit on the 1/24 Rolls redo. I tried to touch up a small part with a brush, but my hand slipped, so I wanted to see if I could fix it with a respray. Nope. I will have to do a very light 0000 steel wool massage on the area and try again, later. 'One learns more from one's mistakes than one will ever learn from one's successes.' Wise words from a mentor.
@peronne1 @chris @geoff-jewitt Good news to report today, with the arrival of the 1/24 Delage D8SS kit. It appears to be a 1932 and I will begin with it once I have finished reorganizing the shelves. We picked up a new IKEA shelving unit for more cars and books.
Awaiting any and all progress on the model as you see fit to report. The main thing to remember as you slowly get back to an older skill - Have FUN!
