Before SuperCars-1 produced this VERY model in 1/18 scale, Marlowe Johnson crafted one about 13 years ago. I'm sorry, BUT I'm compelled to share. Marty did an outstanding job and his pics are, well ... so kick-ass cool!
Enjoy! 😎 😎 😎
I sit here in disbelief! That is extraordinary. Marty, I hope your work was presented at a model car show/s for the collecting and model making world to see and admire?
SUPER cool! Thanks for sharing this with us Chris, and thanks, Marty, for the 'insight' sir!!
That is a craftsman modeler. Beautiful work!
Wow! This is a blast from the past. Thanks much for the post and the acknowledgement! One thing I remember about this modification is that I literally thought it would be a weekend project. However, one of "Murphy's Laws" kicked in, this one was "nothing is as easy as it looks," and it ended up taking at least a week to complete. As I look back, there are a couple of things that are not correct to the actual 1:1 car, but I've managed to live with the issues that I see; most others probably wouldn't.
Thanks, Chris, for posting! And thank you all for your too kind words!!!
I'm not so sure Bob. I keep looking for their best work on a vintage John Deere but they all come out looking like cars instead. Oh Yeah, I'm aware of their prowess & expertise with car building. But still, nary a 720 or Model G High Crop!!@perrone1 Both Marty and Chris are master model builders.
@perrone1 @bob-jackman - Ha! Compared to Professor Moroni, I'm just a hand tool hacker! Chris's work is on a whole other level, and like most of us here, I am in awe.
That said, you never REALLY know what Chris is secretly working on in his Skunkworks modification laboratory. He might have a John Deere tractor that he'll reveal to us!
"As I look back, there are a couple of things that are not correct to the actual 1:1 car..."
I guess you'll have to point them out.... I suspect it's a "powertrain issue." 🤔 🤔 I mean, yours looks pretty damn good to me and appears to match the ones subsequently produced by SC-1. 👍 👍
@chris - Well, you can see them in this photo. Once I tell you about the issues, you cannot unsee them.
The font I used to create my "Yankee Peddler" decal is wrong. Note the "D" on the SC1 version is more correctly squared in shape. Also, my "New York Dodge Dealer" decal was applied incorrectly and looks crooked compared to the SC1 version.
See what I mean? Now, you won't be able to "unsee" it.
@chris - BTW, the 1:1 Yankee Peddler was painted by the famed Alexander Brothers. They also did the Dart Charger and the Bronco Buster.
@marty-johnson OK,OK..... So, instead on an "A+" now you get an "A." The real story here is, "Learn from your mistakes." When you finish your Bronco Buster, for example, you'll undoubtedly NOT do the same. 😏
@chris - Hopefully, I'll employ my standard rule for ALL mistakes. That being, "Never make the same mistake twice."
