In addition to on-line sources and brick and mortar diecast/resin/white metal stores, one can sometimes find model automobiles at places like a Wal-Mart, Target and various drug stores in their toy sections. These spots can also be places to find 1/64 Hot Wheels/Auto-thentic etc-type cars, etc. Some years ago, while waiting for a prescription to be filled, I wandered over the toy section in a local CVS/Walgreens-type pharmacy and picked up this Volkswagen mini-bus, in about 1/34 and in a styrene-plastic material. The 1949 Ford was about 1/43 and originally had blacked-out windows all-around which I decided to remove here.

I'm sure you'd have Games Stores over there Mike. Selling PC games, jigsaws etc. Here most of them have a 'collectables section' where I've picked up a couple of nice 1/24 Bburago Ferraris.

Thanks for that tip, Geoff ! I am sure we have something like that store here, too. I recall something like "Game Stop" or somthing similar and it is true one can sometimes find automobile models in somewhat more unexpected places. I think even a "Best Buy" or an electronics store may also have some car replica models.

Walmart carries the M2 line which is very nice for the money with nice detailing.  When sitting next to a DM, FM, GMP car the fit in nicely.
